PROMOTING DIALOGUE BETWEEN PRIVATE AND PUBLIC ACTORS IN BRUSSELS' EUROPEAN QUARTER

WHY AND WHEN WAS THE EUROPEAN QUARTER FUND CREATED?

In 2000 the Brussels Region witnessed the project ‘Brussels, European cultural city of the year 2000 ’. At the end of that year the administrators of Brussels 2000 noted the one dimensionality of the European quarter and the lack of a specific masterplan.

Following their initiative, the King Baudouin Foundation decided to erect a Fund in order to improve the image of the European quarter.

WHICH NORMS DOES THE FUND FOLLOW?

The Fund follows the norms of the King Baudouin Foundation. Its Management Committee decides on the programme of actions and the operating budget, approves the expenses and the accounts. In accordance with the statutes, it is composed of 8 members: four representatives from civil society, including the Chairman, three representatives from its contributing members (from asset companies and property developers), and the managing director of the King Baudouin Foundation.
